A couple of months ago I was contacted by Company magazine to make a festival head piece under the theme 'wildlife' to be featured in the magazine's July issue!
To begin with I wanted to create a floral crown a la
Crown and Glory but on short time and not many materials to chose from I decided to opt for an easier, hair band solution.
Floral hair bands are being sold everywhere at the moment and now I've made one I know just how easy they are to recreate. This one is a little more crazy with the use of a bird and lots of wire poking out, but this was for the theme 'wildlife' :) however now I think I will actually keep the band ready for Summer, and remove the bird and the paper flowers (made from scratch) and just wear it with the purple/yellow flowers :)
To make this I bought a plain hair band and used wire to tie everything on to it. The flowers were stitched together using invisible thread and the bird was wrapped on with thread to keep him secure. You may recognise him, my friend
Millie makes the birds :) So I'd like to thank her for using him for this fun challenge!
All in all I'm really happy with how it came out and how easy it was to do! Think I might make a couple more simpler ones ready for Summer.
You can read more on how I made it and see my lovely face on page 117 of this months Company magazine :D It's on sale now and I am SO excited, this is my first magazine feature! I made all my friends and my parents buy it yesterday :) haha.
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!
